Emergency

Beacon Veterinary Specialists provides emergency and critical care veterinary services for Bay Area pets 24-hours a day, 365 days a year – including nights, weekends, and holidays. No appointment is needed. Just like in humans, emergencies can strike our pets without warning. From severe injuries to sudden illness, emergency situations require immediate attention to save your pet’s life.

Internal Medicine

Our internal medicine service was founded with one goal in mind: to provide a combination of exceptional, comprehensive, personalized patient care and premier service to clients, patients, and primary care veterinarians. If your pet is experiencing a problem that is not resolving, ask your veterinarian about a referral to an internist at Beacon.

Surgery

For more than 30 years, our team of seasoned veterinary surgical specialists has been known for providing the most progressive treatments and techniques. This means we are able to evaluate, recommend, and perform the most appropriate procedure for your pet’s particular condition and your family’s situation.

Internal medicine specialists treat a wide range of conditions, including diabetes, kidney disease, liver disorders, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal problems, and immune-mediated diseases. If your pet has a chronic or complex health issue, internal medicine may be involved in their care.

During your consultation, the specialist will review your pet’s medical history, perform a thorough physical exam, and may recommend additional diagnostics like blood work, imaging, or biopsies to determine the best treatment plan for your pet

You should bring your pet to the emergency clinic if they are experiencing symptoms like difficulty breathing, seizures, trauma from an accident, excessive vomiting or diarrhea, ingestion of toxic substances, or severe lethargy. If you are unsure, it’s always better to call and seek advice.

Upon arrival, your pet will be triaged to assess the urgency of their condition. The veterinary team will stabilize your pet if necessary and may perform diagnostics like X-rays or blood tests to determine the cause of the issue. Once stabilized, treatment options will be discussed with you.

Emergency services are designed for immediate, critical care. Unlike regular visits, emergency vets focus on quickly diagnosing and stabilizing life-threatening conditions to ensure your pet receives urgent treatment. Appointments are not necessary for emergency care.

We offer a full range of surgical services, including orthopedic surgery (for bone and joint issues), soft tissue surgery (such as tumor removal or gastrointestinal surgery), reconstructive surgery, and emergency surgeries like foreign body removal or trauma repair.
